Dr. Brian Scott, DVM
Dr. Brian Scott has been practicing at Iron Mountain Animal Hospital since 2004. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. Dr. Scott continued his education at the University Of Wisconsin- School Of Veterinary Medicine, where he received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Scott is a general practitioner with special interests in orthopedic surgery, internal medicine, and preventative care. He is a member of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.
When Dr. Scott is not practicing veterinary medicine, he is spending time with his wife, Michelle, his three children Josie, Wyatt and Evan, and their dogs, Stanley and Milo. He enjoys being involved with his children’s activities, the community, and all of the outdoor activities the area has to offer.

Dr. Lindsy Alessandrini, DVM
Dr. Alessandrini grew up in Iron Mountain, MI. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Michigan University in 2006. In 2012 she received her veterinary degree from Michigan State University. Dr. Alessandrini joined the Iron Mountain Animal Hospital as a veterinarian in December of 2014. Dr. Alessandrini was a familiar face as she had worked here as a veterinary assistant before being accepted into veterinary school!
She now lives in the Iron Mountain area with her husband Mario, daughter Kinslee, dogs Premo, Ella, and Sky, and cats Arrow, Chief, and Jewels
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Emily Schendel
Dr. Schendel is originally from Ashland, Wisconsin; she is the only one of her nine siblings to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a veterinarian. From a young age she enjoyed learning to care for many different kinds of animals as well as build lasting relationships with owners.
To pursue her career, Dr. Schendel attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. She then took a year off to spend a winter training professional sled dogs in northern Minnesota. The following four years were spent at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to earn her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, she worked in a rural, mixed animal clinic in northern Wisconsin, gaining valuable training in multiple aspects of veterinary practice.
Dr. Schendel joined the Iron Mountain Animal Hospital team in November of 2019. As a general practice veterinarian she enjoys the variety of patients and cases. She especially likes helping pets with wellness health plans, internal medicine problems and palliative care. “Veterinary care is best experienced as a partnership between the veterinary team, owner and pet.”
When not at work, Dr. Schendel enjoys family time with her husband, two children, two cats and dog. Her hobbies include canicross, volunteering at sled dog races, baking and enjoying movies.

Dr. Julie Chouinard
Dr. Chouinard grew up in Gladstone, MI and she obtained her Associate of Science degree from Bay de Noc Community College. She then attended Michigan State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree and continued on to graduate from the College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating from veterinary school, she completed a six month internship at Foster-Smith Northwoods Animal Hospital in Minocqua, Wisconsin. In 1998 she established Your Front Door Mobile Veterinary Clinic which was the first and only fully equipped mobile veterinary clinic in Delta and Menominee Counties. Dr. Chouinard remained a self-employed mobile small animal veterinary practitioner from 1998 until 2006, when she then became an associate at the Escanaba Veterinary Clinic. She joined the Iron Mountain Animal Hospital in 2019. Dr Julie loves being a small animal general practitioner and enjoys building lasting relationships with her clients and their furry companions.
Dr. Julie is married and has two beautiful daughters. They have two Boston Terriers named Joey and Hank and one gorgeous orange and white cat named Rain. They cherish family time together as all of their lives individually are very busy. They love to go camping, kayaking, shopping and enjoy touring/travel.

Dr. Erica Poquette
Dr. Poquette grew up in Canton, Michigan. She received her Bachelor of Science from Northern Michigan University and then her veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota. After graduating, she moved back to Canton and worked at a small animal clinic before realizing how much she missed the Upper Peninsula. She lives with her husband Josh and their dog Maple.
In her free time, Dr. Poquette enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking, and doing the New York Times crossword puzzle.
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Danielle Hurley
Dr. Hurley was born and raised in Marquette, MI. After more than two years of making the daily commute back and forth from her hometown in Marquette to be able to work at Iron Mountain Animal Hospital (and a valuable 4 month life experience in SanAntonio, TX during the summer of 2022), Dr. Hurley and her family have finally relocated to Iron Mountain.
Dr. Hurley attended Michigan State University where she graduated with her Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology. She then went onto Michigan State’s College of Veterinary Medicine where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to veterinary school Dr. Hurley served for 8 years in the Michigan Army National Guard and was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Outside of work Dr. Hurley enjoys spending time with her husband, Eddie, daughter Makaya and twin sons, Charlie and Noah. They have an Olde English Bulldogge named Lulu, 2 French Bulldogs named Jellybean and Poppy, and a cat named Pita.
