“I began my journey with the Iron Mountain Animal Hospital in April of 1993. Dr. Jim Nicolas took me under his wing and guided me in my passion and caring for animals. My new journey started in 2010 when Dr. Brian Scott became my new mentor. Until this day he has made this a very rewarding and challenging job. My journey will continue as long as I can contribute.”
Heidi is our Technical Team Supervisor. In that role, she helps with the training of new employees, continued training of our current staff, and ensuring a wonderful client experience.

Shelly
Shelly grew up in Mayville, WI on a produce farm. She went to Northern Michigan University and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. She married Jonathan in 2006 and moved to Indiana where she worked at a local veterinarian practice. Jonathan and Shelly moved to Iron Mountain in May 2009 and she began working for the Iron Mountain Animal Hospital as a veterinary assistant in July. They welcomed a son, Josiah, in Feb 2011, and a daughter, Eva in July 2013. Her family resides in Iron Mountain and is very involved in their community. They currently have 4 cats (Annabella, Esmeralda, Ozzie, and Violet) and one adorable Boston Terrier named Mookie.

Michelle
Michelle has been a veterinary technician at IMAH since 2002. She has always been an animal lover. She attended Bay De Noc Community College and received a veterinary assistant certificate. She then attended Argosy University in Minnesota where she received an Associates in Applied Science degree. After completing an externship in Gwinn, MI, she became a Certified Veterinary Technician. In 2008 after taking the Michigan state exam, she became a Licensed Veterinary Technician.

Michelle grew up in Foster City, MI and now lives there with her husband and two children. She has one dog, one cat, 2 house rabbits, 3 fish, and 8 chickens.

Laura
Laura started working at Iron Mountain Animal Hospital in February 2016. She graduated from University of Wisconsin: Stevens Point in May 2012 with a degree in Wildlife Ecology and Captive Wildlife. Prior to joining the IMAH team she worked for two years as a zookeeper at Wildwood Wildlife Park in Minocqua, WI.

Laura lives in Pembine with her husband, Kent, and their dogs Mako and Ember. When not working she enjoys hiking, photography, birding, and spending time with family and friends.

Skye
Skye received her Veterinary Assistant Certificate through Animal Behavior College in January 2019, joining the team at Iron Mountain Animal Hospital that same month. She is currently in school for her Associates in Veterinary Science.
Skye lives in Iron Mountain with her two dogs, Molly and Sadie, her two cats Milo and Nola and her boyfriend Alex. She enjoys anything outdoors, crafting, music and family time.

Kristy started working at the Iron Mountain Animal Hospital in 2018. She is our laboratory supervisor and works behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly and is always there to lend a helping hand.

Becca
Becca moved to the UP in 2019 from the Port Huron area. She recently started attending San Juan for Veterinary Technology, and plans to graduate in the next two years with her associate degree. She enjoys the outdoors and likes to spend time with her husband Nick hiking, swimming, kayaking, and spending time with their little farm family. Their farm family includes their three dogs; Echo, Zeus and Belle, three cats; Blair, Millie and Phoebe, two horses; Tara and Princess, two sheep; Bridgette and Philip, and two goats; Steve and Dottie.

Emily
Emily started at the Iron Mountain Animal Hospital in April 2021. Prior to this she worked in the veterinary field for 2 years in the Marquette, MI area. Emily graduated from Northern Michigan University with her Bachelors of Biology in May 2021, she is currently enrolled to get her Veterinary Technician Certificate at Penn Foster. Emily currently lives in Kingsford with her husband, dog (Loki) and two cats (Remi & Arthur).

Ky joined the IMAH team in September 2022 after working in the veterinary field in Oregon and Colorado over the past year. Right now she is planning on going back to school to get her Certified Veterinary Technician degree.

Ky lives in Niagara, WI with her fur babies, Magni (Cat), Zypherus (Cat), Chilombo (Cat), and Taiwen (Dog). She hopes to one day live on a farm and expand her fur baby family.
